Why Did You Make This Book?

Our very own Erin Moriarty (Director of Public Relations) spoke with co-author Monty Floyd about the inspiration behind this comical, yet serious book... "Despite the claims made by the NEA (Teachers Union), our intention with this book was never to demean teachers. My wife and I created it because, in our troubled school district (Hernando County, FL), we’ve faced multiple incidents of groomers and pedophiles abusing children. Even more concerning is that some otherwise good teachers were aware of these actions but chose to ignore them due to fear of retribution from the union. After the eighth case within a year, we decided to tackle this issue through our literary work, which is the pirate book. Its purpose is to encourage good teachers to speak up and to inform parents about the dangers their children might face in public schools today, while also making something comical for the children to read or be read from, while still educating children about the many warning signs to be wary of."
